Labor and Delivery RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Fishersville, Virginia
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Contract length: 26 weeks
• On-call required: 48 hours in a 6-week block
• Can submit with a pending license

Unit / Setting

• Combined unit serving L&D (Vaginal & Cesarean), post-partum, antepartum, and Level II nursery
• Level 2 inpatient obstetrical clientele
• Level 2 NICU neonatal clientele
• GYN/Medical overflow
• Observational triage patients
• Mother Baby Couplet Care
• Border babies

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
• AWHONN Intermediate
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Experience / Clinical Scope

• Procedures associated with obstetrics such as versions, IOL, cervical ripening, IUFD care, bereavement, and Cesarean Sections
• If floated outside of specialty, role is used as helping hands with general nursing skills to assist nurses with assigned patients

Staffing Ratios

• 1:1 for complication or active labor
• 1:3 for stable antepartum
• 1:1-2 for unstable, ill antepartum
• 1:3/4 for couplet care
• 2:1 delivery
• 1:2-3 for Level 2 NICU depending on condition
