Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience required
  • Cardiac ICU experience and pediatric experience preferred
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Unit & Patient Details

  • Average daily census: 21 patients
  • Unit beds: 32
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
  • Patient Diagnoses include:
    • Post-op open heart surgery
    • Single ventricles
    • Complex cardiac anatomy/physiology
    • Heart transplant
    • Heart failure
  • Special Procedures/Unit Details:
    • Invasive cardiac monitoring (CVP, ART, RA, etc.)
    • ECMO & CRRT exposure or experience preferred
    • Use of vasopressors, cardiac and sedation drips

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal check (covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
    • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
    • Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
    • State-specific registry checks (Nebraska DHHS Adult & Child Services Registry)
  • Certifications verification within 30 days of start:
    • ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • Tech Certification
    • State RN License
    • NURSYS verification
  • Competency exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (80% or higher required)
    • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
    • Unit Competency Exam
  • Facility-specific forms:
    • Cognito Form (must be completed at least 6 business days before start)
    • Flu Declination Form (if applicable)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start (by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN)
  • Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine required
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD)
    • TB questionnaire if past positive TB test (within 6 weeks of start)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low/equivocal titer
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or completed vaccine series required (no declinations allowed)
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of disease; boosters if low/equivocal titer
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 12 months prior to start
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required for new starts beginning 10/1/2025 or approved exemption on file by 11/30/2025

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references within 2 years of start
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
