ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift Options:
- 3x12-hour night shifts or 4x12-hour night shifts (traveler preference)
- Block scheduling with every other week (EOW) required
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Radius Rule: Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alabama
- Minimum 2 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License matching RN license name
- Social Security Card or last four digits of SSN for internal verification
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SS trace, nationwide checks, sex offender registry, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks (all within 30 days of start)
- Education verification via clearinghouse, agency, or official transcript
- NURSYS license verification required
- Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
- Facility-specific modules must be completed by the Friday prior to start (includes additional Apex trainings for CCU & Neuro ICU)
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no nose ring, submitted within 72 hours of signing)
- Preferred badge name confirmation
Health & Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Annual fit mask test (specific approved mask models only)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for placements starting on or after September 15; no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions require facility form and mask-wearing)
- COVID vaccine is voluntary
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start, updated annually; instant/rapid tests not accepted
Competency Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Core exams I-III (Prophecy preferred; RN network orientation module not accepted)
- HIPAA attestation required
References & Employment History
- Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary)
- Complete employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Additional Notes
- No prior permanent employment at this facility within the last 10 years
- Candidate must be fully pre-closed and ready to sign contract if offered
- All licenses expiring during assignment must show proof of renewal before start; no exceptions
- NIH Stroke Certification required for all RNs except Pediatrics, NICU, and Surgery units; must be current and renewed if expiring during contract
