Job Opportunity: Neuro/PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (Neuro/Progressive Care Unit)
Shift: Night shift, either 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-call: Not required
Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed
Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
Call Out Policy: After 2 call outs without documented medical reason, contract may be cancelled
Schedule Flexibility: Must be flexible to meet unit needs; block schedule accommodation possible but not guaranteed

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in South Carolina
Minimum 2 years of Neuro PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, with experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Telemetry competency

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; NURSYS verification required for RNs
Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) or chest x-ray within 90 days of start
- Immunizations or positive titers for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or vaccine series or declination), Tdap within 10 years or declination
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers preferred (not required for this facility)
Photo: Passport-style headshot required for badge
Facility-Specific Documents: Includes signed agreements (Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Systems User Agreement, etc.) and completion of orientation modules prior to start
Training Modules: Must complete assigned online modules (approx. 2 hours) before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home

Additional Notes

Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November), especially August and September. Avoid confirming new or extension assignments during this period if this is a concern.
Radiation Badge: Not required for this position (only required for OR RNs and CSTs).

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro/PCU RNs with prior travel contract experience who hold a valid SC or Compact RN license and meet the certification and health requirements. Night shift flexibility and willingness to float are essential.
