Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Stepdown role with frequent floating to ICU and Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) units.
• Must be comfortable working across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units.
• Patient ratios:

  • Stepdown: 1:4-5
  • ICU: 1:2
  • MedSurg: 1:5-6
• 21 beds in the unit.
• Non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene.
• Patient care includes vascular cases (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, post-cardiac cath with intervention, CIWA protocol with IVP Ativan (no Presidex).
• Experience with Peritoneal Dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high flow oxygen (<80%), home ventilators (Trilogy), wound care, nebulizers, and hemodialysis in the dialysis department.
• Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Orientation & Uniform

• Orientation every Wednesday.
• Every other week (EOW) requirement applies.
• Scrubs colors: Royal Blue and White.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service.
• Criminal background check within 6 months (for candidates signed before 12/14/25) or within 30 days (for candidates signed on/after 12/14/25).
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions.
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands required.
• Immunizations and titers required or facility-specific declination forms for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccine series)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (year-round)
  • COVID vaccination or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required; TB questionnaire required for positive responders and all units except Respiratory Therapy and ER.
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 6 months (before 12/14/25) or within 30 days (on/after 12/14/25); instant tests not accepted.

Documentation & Competencies

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
• Performance evaluation required if previously completed assignments through any agency.
• Complete employment application/resume.
• Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually.
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Facility-specific Relias program modules (~81 modules) must be completed prior to first shift and orientation.
• Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, shadows, or altered images).
• Facility-specific confidentiality and job description forms must be signed.

Additional Notes

• Patient care involves stable BiPAP and home ventilators (Trilogy).
• Floating is mandatory across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units.
• Candidate must confirm comfort with floating frequently.
