OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Santa Rosa, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (Day shift, 5x8 hours)
• Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends per schedule
• On-call: One weeknight per week plus every 2nd or 3rd Saturday or Sunday (24-hour coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM) with 20-minute response time
• May need to cover one night shift during the contract
• Guaranteed hours with facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Locals not accepted
• No block scheduling accommodation
• Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, 80 staffed beds
• Charting system: Epic
• Parking: Free

Required Experience & Skills

• Specialty: Surgical Services (Surgical Tech)
• Minimum 1 year of experience required in outpatient, community hospital, orthopedic, neuro, and vascular cases
• Preferred experience: inpatient and trauma cases
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
• National certification not required
• State license required for Surgical Tech in California (pending state license not accepted)

Required Documents & Background Checks

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Social Security Card (as applicable)
• E-Verify attestation
• Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
• Additional background components: SSN trace, Death Master Index, Nationwide and County checks, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification
• Education verification required for all candidates
• Drug screen: 9-panel within 12 months of start (10-panel for Per Diem candidates pipelined before 4/14/26)
• References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual update required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives
  • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination acceptable)
  • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates

Additional Requirements

• Must comply with facility’s float policy (may be required to float to other nearby facilities)
• Must complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
• Must complete Epic training modules as required for facility access
• Fit mask testing required onsite or valid record within 1 year (annual update)
• Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Skills checklist updated annually as applicable

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Experience in outpatient settings
• Experience with orthopedic (ORTHO), neuro, and vascular cases
• Vascular Technologist experience

Notes

• Pending state licenses are not accepted
• Locals are not accepted for this travel contract
• Prior travel experience is not required
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application and approved based on facility needs
• Facility allows calling off 1 shift every 2 weeks

This position is ideal for Surgical Techs with at least 1 year of relevant surgical services experience who are open to travel assignments and weekend/on-call shifts in a short-term acute care setting.
