Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Float Pool (Travel/Contract)

Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Total Hours: 36 hours per week
- Float Pool Role: Provide nursing care primarily in Medical-Surgical (MS) and Telemetry (Tele) units with flexibility to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Availability required for weekdays, some weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care in MS/Telemetry settings
- Manage patient ratios of approximately 1:4-5
- Collaborate effectively with team members
- Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records system
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted; letter of completion not accepted)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams as applicable
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – verify per assignment specifics
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Monthly monitoring through EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG databases
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Proof of licensure verification (NURSYS) within 30 days of start
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documentation:
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, and rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella immunity via 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1–3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination accepted
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Annual acknowledgment of facility dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
- Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks
