Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
• Work either 36 or 48 hours per week (declare preference at submission).
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Complete ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation with passing scores required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum of 1.5 years recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry nursing, with experience within the last year.
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Knowledge and proficiency in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Assessments & Testing

• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication exam during orientation (passing scores required).
• Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) completed within 12 months and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be done under nursing code 4723.09.
• Pass a physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunization and health requirements including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Annual flu vaccination (declinations not accepted unless approved medical/religious exemption)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Additional Requirements

• Complete all required onboarding and online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
• Provide 2 professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
• Must be able to complete physical and health documentation including immunizations and fit testing prior to start.
• Must complete fingerprinting within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Pass baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) at orientation with remediation and retake opportunities if needed.
• PBDS Assessment is waived for this position.

Notes

• Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since their last contract at this or related facilities may be exempt from some orientation testing and module requirements.
• Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID at all times during assignment.
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all health and safety documentation and immunizations as per facility policy.
• Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit testing are subject to agency and facility approval processes.
