Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role involves floating between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units as part of a maternity float pool (true LDRP position).
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), totaling 36 hours per week.
• Schedule includes every other weekend and holiday.
• Start dates available: June 10 or June 24 only.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP).
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS issued by the American Heart Association, and NRP.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• Must be willing and able to float between L&D and PP units.

Orientation and Testing Requirements

• Two pass/fail exams at orientation: Medication exam and Telemetry exam.
• Only one attempt allowed per exam; failure to pass either results in immediate contract cancellation.
• Study materials will be provided prior to orientation.
• Telemetry exam required for RNs working in units with telemetry monitoring, including L&D.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid driver’s license or state ID.
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance required within 30 days prior to start.
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and education verification.
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable; diplomas not accepted).
• NURSYS verification of RN license within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Drug test within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
• Immunizations/vaccinations or valid declinations required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for maternity)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Influenza (seasonal vaccine or declination required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination required)
• TB testing: Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within 1 year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; positive TB requires chest X-ray and facility-specific TB questionnaire.
• Completion of a skills checklist prior to start and updated annually.
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references within three years of start date.

Additional Notes

• Up to 5 days or less of Return to Orientation (RTO) allowed.
• Local candidates are eligible for the same terms as travelers.
• Candidates must be aware that failure to pass required orientation exams results in immediate contract cancellation.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses comfortable with maternity float pool assignments and meeting strict orientation testing and compliance requirements.
