Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Bend, Oregon

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Acute, trauma, Emergency Department (ED), and Critical Care experience required.
• Must be able to work independently in a critical access hospital setting.
• Block schedule with weekend shifts required at minimum every other weekend; additional weekends possible based on operational needs.
• Floating within scope of practice to multiple campus locations may be required.
• First-time travel therapists are not accepted.
• Local candidates outside a 75-mile radius are not accepted.
• Pending license applications are accepted.

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Oregon.
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
• Experience working with Adult and Pediatric patients.
• Ability to work independently in a critical access hospital.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• First-time travel therapists are not accepted.

Required Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred as per unit requirements.

On-Call & Scheduling

• On-call is voluntary, not required.
• Weekend shifts required at minimum every other weekend.
• Floating to other locations within scope of practice may be required.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check required within 90 days of start; updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start.
• Education verification including diploma or transcript required.
• Primary source verification of state license required.
• Photo ID for badge required within 48 hours of signing.
• Various facility-specific confidentiality, compliance, and emergency contact forms must be signed prior to start.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer required)
  • Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable.
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination required during flu season.
• COVID vaccination preferred; declination or exemption required if unvaccinated.
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must provide proof of address and directions from facility to legal address.
• Must be able to work across multiple campus locations within the region.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required, but first-time travel therapists are not accepted.

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with strong critical care and emergency department backgrounds who are comfortable working independently in a rural hospital setting.
