Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in Massachusetts (Worcester)

Job Details

  • Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift starting at 7:00 PM with rare flexibility (±4 hours) only for urgent staffing needs
  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)

Job Description

  • Must pass two pass/fail exams at orientation:
    • Medication exam
    • Telemetry exam (only one attempt allowed; failure results in immediate contract cancellation)
  • Study materials will be provided before orientation exams
  • Must be able to read telemetry
  • EPIC experience preferred

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Massachusetts RN license (must have in hand)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Pass/Fail Testing: Medication and Telemetry exams required for RNs working in telemetry units including Labor & Delivery
  • NURSYS Verification required within 30 days prior to start

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to read telemetry
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required for all RNs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 6 months of start and annually thereafter for RNs working in acute care, critical care, and telemetry units
  • Ability to pass orientation exams on first attempt (only one attempt allowed for telemetry exam)

Health and Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as required
  • Required immunizations or valid declinations for:
    • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
    • Flu seasonal vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination)
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start
  • Background check including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific clearances

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references within the last three years
  • Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist prior to start and updated annually
  • Compliance with state-specific nurse aide registry search (if applicable)

  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • Telemetry experience
