Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Position Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Three 12-hour shifts per week (Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Holidays: Some holiday work required
• Work Areas: ICU and general floors
• Contract Length: Approximately 26 weeks
• Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
• Pending Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner License accepted
• Orientation parking available with fees; night shift parking free in employee lots

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri (or pending)
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Preferred Qualifications

• Active membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field, or actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches, sex offender registry, and international searches if applicable
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest degree related to profession (cannot pend at start)
• Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri licenses)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
• Fit mask testing annually (N95 respirators required; facial hair restrictions apply)
• Immunizations and titers: Tdap, TB screening (2 negative PPDs or equivalent), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (with boosters or declination if applicable)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – April 1)
• Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, and regulatory compliance education (annual quiz with minimum 80% score)
• Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
• Employment application and professional references (two required, supervisors preferred)
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists as applicable
• Background checks and state-specific searches as required by Missouri regulations

Additional Information

• The facility is a short-term acute care teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
• The department has a third-weekend rotation and no block scheduling accommodations
• Candidates must be willing to precept respiratory therapy students occasionally
• Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts every 13 weeks (cancellations must be for full shifts)
• No local candidates accepted within 75 miles radius
• Return-to-work restrictions: no more than 7 days off allowed
• Parking fees apply for day shifts; free parking for straight night shifts

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs comfortable with ICU and floor respiratory care, ventilator management, and working in a large teaching hospital environment.
