Biomedical Technician - Travel/Contract

Location: Port Jefferson, New York (split time between two facilities approximately 13 miles apart)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Biomedical Technician is responsible for performance testing, repair, calibration, and safety testing of medical electronic and electromechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on medical devices based on scheduled reports.
• Evaluate, test, and screen new and existing medical devices for hazards.
• Assist in developing safety policies, test procedures, and device efficiency.
• Maintain technical library of operators and service manuals, and spare parts inventory.
• Select, identify, and order repair parts for medical devices.
• Assist in installation, wiring, uncrating, and assembly of new medical equipment.
• Inspect and test rental and borrowed medical devices for performance and safety.
• Attend manufacturer technical service schools and stay updated on new technology and testing techniques.
• Maintain on-call status and assist in emergency situations such as snow or life-threatening events.
• Aid in orientation of new employees and participate in various committees as needed.
• Communicate effectively with staff and other departments, including Plant Engineering.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Medical Lab Technician license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
• Associate degree in Electronics or completion of an Electronic Technical Trade School
• Experience as a Biomedical Technician
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematic drawings
