Job Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN)
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts starting at 18:45
• Unit Size: 23 beds
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Schedule Flexibility: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
• Local Candidates: Accepted, no radius restrictions
• On-call: Not required

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical nursing
• First-time travel nurses accepted
• PICC line management and IV start experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active Illinois RN license or in application process with ETA
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• NIH certification required
• ACLS, PALS may be required based on unit/specialty (AHA or RQI acceptable)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work nights and every other weekend
• RTO (Return to Office) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
• Must complete various background checks and verifications prior to start
• Physical exam within one year of start, including labs and immunizations as required
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates
• Badge photo required before start
• References: 2 professional references required

• Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
• Magnet recognized facility
• Charting system: Cerner
• Parking permit required (no cost)

• Candidate must be prepared to comply with all state-specific background and registry checks required for Illinois clinical staff.
• Documentation and verifications must be completed and uploaded according to facility timelines.
• Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced acute care environment with a focus on medical-surgical nursing.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• PICC line management experience
• National Tech Certification Verification
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• State License 1 Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
