Infection Prevention Nurse (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract
Location: Roseville, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
Job Summary
- Perform surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI).
- Write and update infection prevention policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, CDC, etc.).
- Conduct infection prevention education and training for healthcare personnel and new hires.
- Conduct environmental rounds in inpatient and outpatient care areas.
- Investigate and report unusual hospital infection outbreaks.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on employee health screenings, immunizations, and workers compensation reporting.
- Maintain records related to work injuries, illnesses, and employee exposures to communicable diseases.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement activities related to infection control.
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California (required).
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years acute care experience preferred.
- Certifications:
- CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
- Infection Control Certification preferred.
- Public Health Nursing Credential preferred.
Required Compliance and Documentation
- Current picture identification (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering last 7 years of residence and work history.
- Drug testing within 30 days before start (includes multiple drug panels).
- Physical exam within 90 days of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TDAP (within 10 years or positive titer; declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test (QGold/TSpot or 2 PPDs within 30 days; annual updates required).
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccination series, or signed declination).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination/exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 04/30). Unvaccinated candidates must wear masks.
- N95 fit test preferred; onsite fit testing may be conducted if needed.
- Annual competency exams and training including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (Relias required).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual, required for Telemetry, ICU, ER).
- Other certifications as applicable (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI, MAB) depending on unit assignment.
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgement annually.
- Completion of required facility-specific agreements and acknowledgements prior to start (confidentiality, intellectual property rights, waiver of benefits, contractor compliance education).
- Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
- Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history including gaps.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required.
