Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- Work with adult to geriatric patient populations.
- Float required to all Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units.
- Patient ratios:
- PCU: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- MS, MS Telemetry: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Unit systems used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days.
- Weekend shifts: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract).
- Floating between units is mandatory.
- Call requirements: None.
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it.
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both.
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them.
Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
- Compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
- Tdap (highly recommended)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
- Background check completed within 30 days of start.
- Education verification required (degree related to nursing).
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months.
- Work history verification of most recent employer.
- Two clinical references required.

- Floating between units is mandatory.

- Must review and sign code of conduct prior to start.
