Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float

Job Description

• Work with adult to geriatric patient populations.
• Float required to all Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units.
• Patient ratios:

  • PCU: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
  • MS, MS Telemetry: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Unit systems used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
• Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days.
• Weekend shifts: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract).
• Floating between units is mandatory.
• Call requirements: None.
• Holiday work expectations:

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it.
  • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both.
  • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them.
    Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
• Compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
• TB questionnaire updated annually.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
  • Tdap (highly recommended)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Background check completed within 30 days of start.
• Education verification required (degree related to nursing).
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months.
• Work history verification of most recent employer.
• Two clinical references required.

This position offers guaranteed hours (36 or 48 per week) and a supportive environment for nurses with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable floating across multiple units within a hospital setting.
