Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (PCU/Tele RN)

Location: Dededo, Guam
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry (tele unit with PCU level of care)
  • Shift: Assigned primarily to one shift (day or night); no shift preference allowed
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, flexibility required
  • Holidays: Working on holidays is mandatory (dates determined by unit needs)
  • Overtime: Not guaranteed, at management discretion
  • Float Requirement: Must float within scope to Med-Surg and ED Tele overflow as needed; no ICU patient care outside scope
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4-5

Required Qualifications

  • Discipline: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Specialty: PCU/Telemetry
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years required; 3-5 years preferred
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-timers (must have prior travel experience)
  • Licensure: Compact or Guam RN license required in hand at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
    • BLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
  • Passport: Current U.S. passport required (Canadian passports not accepted)

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to pick up additional shifts as needed due to census fluctuations
  • No local candidates accepted (residents of Guam are considered local and will not be considered)
  • Return to Office (RTO) requests must be approved and included in contract prior to start; max 3 consecutive days per 2 weeks, max 7 total days
  • Must pass onsite drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams during orientation (pen and paper format, 80% passing score, two attempts allowed)
  • Must complete facility-specific training modules and certifications prior to or during assignment (e.g., Pressure Injury Training, NIH Stroke Scale Training, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis CareFusion)
  • Fit test for N95 masks required within 1 year prior to start; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination (or approved medical exemption), COVID vaccination strongly preferred (declination requires facility-specific waiver)
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 1 year (facility does not require but Aya recommends)
  • Background check within 1 year including criminal and nationwide searches
  • Must provide 2 professional references for travel/per diem acute care positions

About the Unit and Facility

  • Acute Care, Adult Trauma Level II
  • Total Staffed Beds: 132
  • Care includes routine, uncomplicated cardiac procedures, non-cardiac thoracic surgery, and nonurgent percutaneous coronary interventions with complications
  • Charting system: Allscripts/Sunrise
  • Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for most areas
  • Parking: Free for travelers with registration and decal

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced PCU/Telemetry RN with at least 2 years of specialty experience and prior travel experience. The role requires flexibility for weekends, holidays, and floating within scope. Licensure and certifications must be current and in hand before applying. Candidates must have a valid U.S. passport and be willing to comply with all facility-specific training and health requirements. Local candidates are not eligible.
