Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Description
- On-call availability required:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Friday to Monday: Entire weekend
- Weekend work required
- Meal break length: 30 minutes
- Must have experience working in the Cath Lab
- STEMI call requirement: Tech must be in the lab, dressed, and ready within 30 minutes of STEMI page
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Current ARRT certification
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proven experience working in the Cath Lab environment
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Complete and maintain all I9 documentation
- Current and valid Driver’s License or Government Photo ID recommended
- Proof of name change if legal name differs from compliance documents
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification and transcript/diploma matching the degree required
- Passing competency exam required
- Color blindness test required (passing score ≥ 70%)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M Aura 1870+ required)
- Required vaccinations and immunizations including Tdap, TB testing, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination, and COVID vaccination or declination
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance if fit test failed
- Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting and eligibility verification required prior to start (must be completed in Illinois)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to respond quickly to STEMI calls and be physically present in the Cath Lab within 30 minutes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates should be prepared to complete facility-specific training modules and sign confidentiality, privacy, and security agreements prior to start
- Sexual harassment training is mandatory and must be completed annually
- Accommodation requests for vaccinations or fit testing must be submitted promptly and may require facility approval
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Technologists with ARRT certification and current BLS/ACLS credentials who are comfortable with on-call and weekend work in a fast-paced cardiac catheterization lab environment.
