Travel RN OR Job Opportunity - Prestonsburg, Kentucky

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
• Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
• Call Requirements: 1 shift per week; 1 weekend per month

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (highest requirement found)
• Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
• Case experience includes:

  • General OR procedures
  • Endarterectomy with stents and patches
  • Some aneurysm and vessel cleaning/stripping clots
  • Orthopedics (totals, ORIF, arthroscopy)
  • General surgery, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy (GI)
  • Some GYN procedures
  • Relief for ENT tech (tubes, tonsils, adenoids, thyroids, nasal fracture repair)
  • PACU experience to assist in patient recovery during call-back situations

Certifications & Licenses Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Valid RN license for Kentucky or compact license valid in Kentucky
• Nursys verification within 30 days of start

Additional Requirements

• Must reside within 100 miles of the facility
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly; start date is immediate upon assignment confirmation
• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer

Health & Compliance Requirements

• COVID-19 Vaccine (proof required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
• Influenza Vaccine (required Sept 1 - May 31; exemptions accepted with documentation)
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer proof
• Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer proof
• Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years; declinations accepted)
• Annual physical or health statement confirming ability to work without restrictions
• TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start
• Background checks including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, and others (must be within 30 days prior to start)
• Drug screen (excluding marijuana/THC) with annual updates
• Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification (Kentucky-specific)
• Skills checklist, competency exam, and core competencies specific to the unit and scope of practice (annual updates required)
• Employee health attestation form completion prior to start

Summary

This travel RN OR position requires a minimum of 2 years of RN experience with a broad range of surgical and perioperative skills. The role involves 12-hour shifts with call responsibilities and requires multiple certifications and health compliance documents. Candidates must live within 100 miles of the facility and be prepared for immediate start following orientation. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
