Registered Nurse – Neurology (Travel)

Location: Newburgh, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour Days (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (48 hours accepted upon request)
Unit: 37 beds, Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients (CVA, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomies, cerebral angiogram, general medical and psych)
Patient Ratio: Days 1:5-6; Nights 1:5-7; Clinical Nurse takes partial patient assignment

Job Description

• Work primarily on a Neuro Surgical Medical-Surgical unit with a focus on neurological and neurosurgical patient care.
• Float within skillset to nearby campuses (8-11 miles away) with 2-hour notice for cross-campus float.
• No on-call or call-back requirements.
• Weekend/Holiday: Work three weekends every six weeks and every other holiday.
• No blocked schedule requests allowed.
• May be required to precept students and new hires.
• Scrub color: Navy blue; no competing health system or agency logos allowed.
• Strict attendance policy: 3 call-ins may result in termination.
• COVID-19 vaccine not required (subject to change).

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
• Neurology nursing experience
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• One completed travel nursing assignment
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Recent experience with Epic electronic health record system

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts.
