Occupational Therapist (OT) - Travel Contract
Location: El Paso, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Days, 8 hours per day)
Facility & Unit Overview
- Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit with 41 private beds (including 1 independent living apartment)
- Interdisciplinary treatment approach involving PT, OT, Speech Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Rehab Nursing, Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, Wound Care, Nutrition, Pharmacy, and Medical Team
- Daily morning huddles for communication between therapy and nursing teams to promote patient progress and safe discharge
- Weekly interdisciplinary team conferences including medical director, PPS coordinator, case manager, nurse, PT, OT, and speech therapist
- Leadership team actively supports frontline staff; employee engagement >90%
- Therapy team includes 9 Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS)
Unit Details
- Number of Staff: 21 (Day Shift: 8 FT OT, 1 FT COTA, 9 PRN OT, 3 PRN COTA; No night shift)
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-6
- Equipment: H200, Vector, Bioness BITS, VR I-Series, VR Y-Series, Car Transfer Simulator, shower/tub rooms, washer/dryer, simulation kitchen, 9 hole peg, UBE, Rickshaw, adaptive equipment for ADLs, splint pan
- EMR System: Meditech
- Permanent positions available on unit
Job Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Texas Occupational Therapist License
- BLS Certification
- OTR Certification
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist (highest required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
Skills & Responsibilities
Must Have:
- Assessment of BUE ROM/MMT/FMC/GMC/Sitting and Standing Balance
- ADL Assessments and Retraining with knowledge of adaptive equipment use
Preferred:
- Experience with CARE Tool Scoring in Inpatient Rehab Facilities
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
Typical Procedures:
- ADL Retraining
- ROM/Strength/Balance/Neuro Retraining

- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; only 2 earrings per ear allowed, no other visible piercings; tattoos must be covered
