ICU/CCU Float Pool RN

Location

Salt Lake City, Utah

Contract Length

15 weeks

Shift

  • Nights
  • 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • 2 years of ICU experience
  • Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Must be able to assist with respiratory needs
  • Must be able to float within the zone and to other acuity levels as needed
  • Must be able to work weekends and holiday rotation as assigned

Preferred

  • Prior travel experience
  • Epic experience if this is the clinician’s first travel assignment

Unit Details

  • ICU float role covering multiple ICU types
  • Typical patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2, with possible flex to 1:3 depending on acuity
  • High-acuity patients may require 1:1 care
  • No monitor techs
  • No nurse aides, except for sitter needs
  • Designated charge nurse on each unit
  • Respiratory support includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and breathing treatments

Scheduling

  • Schedule is set by leadership in 6-week blocks
  • Travelers are expected to be flexible to help fill staffing gaps
  • Rare call/standby for low census
  • 6 to 9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Orientation

  • 1 to 2 days with a preceptor

Dress Code

  • Any color scrubs

Additional Notes

  • May be asked to float mid-shift
  • May be asked to work in CNA/sitter capacity if low census
  • Time-off requests must be submitted before the assignment starts
