Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Job Overview
- Perform quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under supervision to ensure accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment.
- Participate in teaching and research related to nuclear medicine.
- Utilize departmental resources efficiently to provide timely and accurate exams with minimal risk and cost to patients.
- Address age-specific needs of patients served.
- Work includes both in-department and mobile nuclear medicine services.
- PET/CT attenuation correction duties included (not diagnostic).
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited nuclear medicine program.
- Current certification by Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
- Active AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of computers interfaced with gamma cameras.
- Knowledge of radioactive materials, doses, and flood sources.
- Experience with patient monitoring and ancillary patient and radiation safety equipment.
- Ability to safely handle radioactive materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior clinical experience.
- Ability to effectively handle patients and families across all age groups.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with nuclear medicine gamma cameras, both stationary and portable, from various manufacturers.
Additional Information
- Orientation includes 12 hours of non-billable training.
- Call-off allowance: up to 36 hours every 13 weeks.
- Candidates must be willing to work both in the department and mobile settings.
- Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted.
- No state licensure required for Nuclear Medicine Technologists in Nebraska; certification by a national organization is mandatory.
- Work schedule is Monday to Friday with variable start times based on preferences and staffing.
