Overview

• Travel ER RN assignment in Nebraska
• 13-week contract
• Start: ASAP
• Location: Grand Island
• Department: Emergency Room
• Unit details: 21 regular private rooms, 2 trauma bays, 1 resuscitation room, 1 FNE room, and 2 triage rooms

Required Qualifications

• RN (Registered Nurse)
• ACLS
• BLS
• ENPC
• NIHSS
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• PALS
• TNCC
• Some de-escalation class/certification
• Must be competent with pediatric patients
• Driver’s license required at submittal
• Must be flexible for every other weekend rotation

Schedule

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Yes

Unit Details

• Emergency Room / ER-Trauma Center
• Average volume: 50 patients per day
• Ratio: 4 patients to 1 nurse
• Separate triage area
• ER holds are intermixed in the ED, and ED nurses manage their own ER holds
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms: 2
• In-house security
• ED physicians/mid-levels on site 11–23
• Charge nurse in ED 24/7 and house supervisor on staff 24/7
• 1–2 CNA techs per day
• Portable X-ray in the ED; CT is close to the ED
• RT works with vents, CPAP, BiPap, and High Flow; RT does ABGs and breathing treatments
• ED staff are responsible for EKGs
• Patients are monitored by ED RNs
• 90% of labs are drawn by the primary nurse

Additional Notes

• Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation; 90% required to pass
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• No call or standby
• No floating
