Radiation Therapist

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Radiation Therapist assists with daily patient flow in Radiation Oncology, develops and evaluates patient care processes, and supports Radiation Oncology operations. Responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms, explaining procedures to patients, positioning patients, administering prescribed doses of ionizing radiation using specialized equipment, monitoring patient comfort and condition during therapy, simulating patient treatment plans, and designing custom treatment devices. The role requires knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Current licensure with Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Department of Nuclear Safety
• Registry or registry eligible with ARRT within 6 months of hire
• Completion of a 2-year training program in Radiation Therapy
• Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures, equipment operation, physics, and patient care techniques acquired through an approved radiation therapy technology program (typically one year beyond radiography training)
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and healthcare personnel
• Analytical skills to accurately interpret treatment prescriptions and provide care instructions

Additional Information

• Work hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• No indication of prior travel experience required
