Registered Nurse (PCU) - Night Shift
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Night (18:30 - 07:00)
Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Beds: 35
Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 (RN to patients)
Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs
Common Drips: Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure medications (RNs required to titrate drips)
Charge Nurse: Present on each shift (does not take patient assignment)
Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Yes, ratio approximately 1:10 or 2:20
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Every third holiday
Call/Standby: None
Floating Requirements: May float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
Orientation: First week onboarding plus 1-2 days unit-specific orientation
Work Environment: Fast-paced floor requiring positive attitude, teamwork, good communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years as an RN
- Minimum 1 year PCU or relevant unit experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open book)
- Valid driver’s license required (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
Additional Information
- Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with certain large healthcare systems within the 50-mile radius
- No call or standby requirements
- Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
