Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU/IMC)

Location: Weston, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care (IMC)
• Number of Beds: 30
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick call or added CNA support
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac conditions, NSTEMI, post cath lab, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, sepsis

Shift Details

• Shift Hours: 7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM (12-hour shifts)
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; agency nurses usually assigned variable or straight night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/Standby: Yes
• Floating: Required to float to Medical-Surgical or IMC overflow in ICU

Required Certifications & Skills

• Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), EKG Course
• Experience with management of IV nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone
• Post cath lab experience beneficial
• Arterial line experience appreciated but not required
• RNs are required to titrate drips including nitroglycerin, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
• Charge Nurse Role: Charge RNs take 2 patients

Support Staff & Equipment

• Nurse Aids: Yes, ratio approximately 1:10-12 depending on census
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, Optiflow
• Telemetry: Tele/Monitor Techs present; RNs read their own strips
• Telemetry Monitor Brand: GE

Orientation & Dress Code

• Orientation: Up to 3 days unit/department specific orientation
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Wisconsin
• Minimum Specialty Experience: 4 years in PCU/IMC or related critical care nursing (based on specialty code and job requirements)
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Additional Notes

• Must be able to clock in and out at the facility
• Overtime billed after 48 hours
• Charge nurse takes assignments
• Floating to other units as needed

This position is suitable for experienced PCU/IMC RNs comfortable with cardiac and critical care patient populations, titrating drips, and working in a fast-paced environment with variable shifts and floating requirements.
