Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – DMCC Acute Rehab Unit
Location: Peoria, Illinois

Unit Details
- Unit Type: Acute Rehab
- Number of Beds: 29
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day shift: 5:1
- Night shift: 6:1
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Neuro, Neurosurgery, Amputations, Multi-trauma, Cardiac, Complex medical (trachs, no vents)
- Rehab Services Available: PT, OT, Speech Therapy
- Respiratory Equipment: CPAP/BiPAP (night use for sleep apnea), Nasal cannula (including high flow but no heated high flow)
Schedule & Work Requirements
- Shifts:
- Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday rotation
- Call/Standby: None required
- Floating: Yes, float to LTAC and med-surg units; no float to HAU unless trained
- Orientation:
- 2 days classroom orientation
- 2-3 shifts with a preceptor (day or night)
- Training includes QRP and rehab-specific documentation
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or application in process)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Strong neuro skills required
- No requirement for RN to titrate drips except heparin
- Must attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- Drug-free workplace: negative drug screen required
Additional Notes
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Nurse aides present with a ratio of approximately 1:9 or 1:10
- Telemetry available but not monitored by RN; RN uses tele packs
- Dress code: Any color scrubs allowed; no t-shirts unless approved
Experience Requirements
- Specialty Experience: Strong neuro skills implied; no explicit years stated, assume minimum 1+ year RN experience in neuro or rehab preferred
- Prior travel experience: Not required
This position is ideal for RNs with acute rehab experience seeking a 13-week contract in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment with a focus on neuro and complex medical patients.
