Job Opportunity: LDRP RN (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum Registered Nurse)
Location: Little Falls, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced LDRP RN with Medsurg/Peds and Labor & Delivery experience for a critical access hospital setting. This role involves rotating day/night shifts every 3 weeks with a 1-hour call response requirement.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in Minnesota
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Experience:
- Must have experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D) plus Medsurg and Pediatrics
- Critical access experience preferred
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Work Environment & Responsibilities
- Unit includes 4 L&D beds, 6 postpartum beds, and 1 triage bed
- C-sections performed in the OR
- Follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:1 during induction
- 1:2 postpartum
- Common patient diagnoses: Labor and Delivery, Postpartum care, Hyperbilirubinemia, Preterm labor, Triage
- RNs are required to titrate drips (e.g., Pitocin, cardiac drips, heparin, sedation drugs)
- Charge nurse present on each shift, typically does not take patient assignment unless necessary
- No 24/7 in-house OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia; both are on call
- Respiratory therapy equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, Airvo); RNs troubleshoot but RT is on call 24/7
- RNs monitor telemetry and read their own strips, with ICU and charge nurse support as needed
- Nurse aids available from 6 AM to 6:30 PM
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) system: GE
- Telemetry monitors: Phillips
- Floating required to Med Surg/Peds when OB census is low
- Call/standby requirement with 1-hour response time
Scheduling & Orientation
- Shifts: 7 AM–7:30 PM and 7 PM–7:30 AM, rotating every 3 weeks
- Weekend requirement: Every third weekend (option for straight weekend position)
- Holiday requirement: Every third holiday
- Orientation: One 12-hour unit-specific orientation shift
- No dress code restrictions on scrub color
Additional Notes
- Successful nurses on this unit are communicative, motivated, and approachable
- Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-associated facility in the past year
- Return to office (RTO) needed upfront; no additional RTO approvals after submission
This position is ideal for RNs with solid L&D and Medsurg/Peds experience looking for a rotating shift role in a supportive, critical access hospital environment.
