Job Description

Provide care to Intensive Care patients using the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership for safe delivery of care.
Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel.
Floating to Telemetry units depending on census and need.
Work schedule includes every other weekend and on-call as needed.
Minimum 3+ years ICU experience required.
Travel nursing experience required.

Required Certifications & Licenses

California RN License
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)

Preferred Certifications (Not mandatory)

IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
Impella
PIRRT (Prolonged Intermittent Renal Replacement Therapy)

Background & Compliance Requirements

7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
Sex offender search within 90 days of start.
FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required annually.
Transcript/Diploma verification as needed.
Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client).
Full 7 years of work history required with no gaps.

Health & Immunization Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start.
Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually.
Immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination.
Color blind exam if applicable (in-person exam only).
Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually.

Competency Exams

Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
Competency exam with minimum passing score of 80% (or Angoff score if higher).
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some Telemetry units.
