Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-call: No
Floating: May be required to float between nearby campuses/units within scope due to census or staffing needs

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in South Carolina
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

References: Proof of 2 clinical references, including at least one from the same unit
Background Checks: Must include comprehensive checks (criminal, sex offender registry, employment, education verification, etc.) within required timeframes
Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, cleared to work without restrictions
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Respirator medical clearance annually

Orientation & Onboarding

Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approximately 2-6 hours depending on location) prior to start
Upload COVID vaccination records if available; if not vaccinated, must complete vaccination declination form
Various facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, contractor forms, ID badge request)

Work Environment

Acute care hospital with 304 staffed beds
Charting via Epic system
Parking available at no cost with facility-issued pass
Hurricane season (June-November) may require participation in emergency response teams; consider this before accepting assignment

Notes

First-time travelers are accepted
Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Block scheduling accommodations may be requested but are not guaranteed

This position is ideal for ER Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience, who hold a valid South Carolina or Compact RN license, and have required certifications including ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Certification. Experience with Epic and flexibility to float between units is necessary.
