Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off before/after holidays or on weekends
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Local Candidates: Accepted and preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (clear and legible)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Various health and safety documents including:
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test within 1 year (N95 or equivalent)
- Immunizations: Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), TB screening (QGold or TSPOT)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Competency exams and training as required (medication test, color blindness, dysrhythmia/EKG competency for applicable roles)
- Completion of facility-specific forms and compliance with rules of behavior
Notes
- No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position.
- Locals are preferred but travel nurses are welcome.
- Floating to other units within scope is mandatory.
- No call or block scheduling.
