Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Rancho Mirage, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work primarily on a fast-paced, busy observation unit.
• Must be proficient with EPIC charting.
• Unit has 46 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4.
• Float to other Telemetry units may be required.
• Every other weekend work required.

Clinical Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required.
• No first-time travelers accepted.
• Must have experience with at least 3 of the following 5 cardiac drips:

  • Amiodarone
  • Cardizem
  • Dopamine
  • Dobutamine
  • Nitro
• Required skills:

  • Central line care
  • IV starts
  • Pacemaker care
  • Insulin pumps
  • Telemetry monitoring alongside monitor techs
• No titrating of drips allowed.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
• BLCS (Basic Life Support for Clinical Staff)
• AHA Rhythm Test (on-site)

Preferred Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• NIH Stroke Certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred for Emergency Department
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - may be completed onsite if not already held

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, all counties/states lived/worked, national sex offender, and international if applicable).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA confirming good physical and mental health.
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
• Fit testing for specific N95 masks required prior to start (no onsite testing).
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; if positive TB test, clear chest x-ray within 4 years plus facility-specific TB surveillance form.
• Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (immunity, vaccination, or signed declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
• Pass/fail EKG rhythm interpretation exam onsite during orientation (2 attempts allowed; remediation required if first attempt fails).
• Completion of required NetLearning modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours).
• Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including:

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers accepted.
• Candidates must specify their experience with cardiac drips (Y/N for each of the 5 listed drips) when submitting.
• Annual performance evaluations and skills checklists are required if previously worked with the agency for more than 1 year.
• Candidates must complete age-specific and unit-specific competency exams upon hire and annually.
• State license primary source verification required; license must be current throughout the contract.
• Harassment prevention training certificate required.
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams required.
• Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced environment with telemetry monitoring responsibilities.

This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs with strong cardiac drip experience and proficiency in EPIC, seeking a travel contract in California.
