Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Rehab)
  • Patient Diagnoses: General Rehab, Stroke Rehab, Spinal Cord Rehab, Brain Injury Rehab
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Weekend shifts required
  • Float requirement applies
  • No call required
  • Scrubs color: Royal Blue

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 2 years of rehabilitation nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) — verify based on specific unit
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must be current within 12 months)
  • Competency Exams (Core Parts I, II, III) updated annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam if applicable (updated annually)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; must include social security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, federal extended, and FACIS Level 3 checks; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam not required by employer but may be required by placement agency
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declinations accepted with proper form)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/Tspot or 2-step skin test within 3 months of start)
    • Annual TB questionnaire
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (with exemptions and declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
  • Compliance with employee appearance policy
  • Facility-specific forms and attestations may be required prior to start
  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams must be passed with 80% or higher

  • Rehab-focused nursing care with patients recovering from neurological and physical injuries
  • Collaborative interdisciplinary team environment
  • Float to other units as needed
