Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Monday - Thursday schedule
- Pediatric (PEDS) experience required
- 2 years of specialty experience required
- Floating and weekend shifts required
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Scrub colors: Any color allowed
- Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department function
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge in use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Registered Radiologic Technologist (AART-R) & Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Temporary LSRT accepted (state license issuance takes 3-5 days after application and payment)
- Pediatric experience mandatory
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required, but first-time travelers are not accepted
- Must be able to float and work weekends
Certifications (Must have or obtain as required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course for Pediatric ER)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
- Employment eligibility verification (I9, E-Verify)
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (recent testing required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination
- Photo for badge required
- Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- Must complete competency exams and maintain annual updates (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, core competencies)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit
- License and certification verifications must be completed within 30 days of start date
- Candidate must comply with employee appearance policy and facility-specific requirements
This position is ideal for experienced pediatric radiology technologists who have prior travel contract experience and are flexible with floating and weekend shifts.
