Job Description

• Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
• Unit: Neuro/Stroke Progressive Care Unit (PCU) floor
• Patient Acuity: PCU level patients requiring respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical care
• Skills Required:

  • Titrating cardiac drips with continuous telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with respiratory and cardiac care
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Average Daily Census: 30 patients (36 beds total)
• Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
• Scheduling:

  • No block scheduling
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Expected to work 1-2 major holidays if they fall during assignment
• Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Registered Nurse (1st time travelers accepted)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (refer to unit requirements)
• Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia
• Competencies:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed)
  • Color blindness test (with alternative assessment if needed)
  • General nursing competency exam
• Compliance: Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time

Health and Background Requirements

• Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start
• Education Verification: Degree verification required; can be pending with proof of processing
• Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
• Immunizations and Testing:

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
• Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
• References: Two clinical references required
• Skills Checklist: Updated within the last 12 months
• Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending with proof of processing

• Floating within the facility as needed, within scope of practice
• No call requirements
• Must be able to work assigned holidays as specified
• Orientation hours depend on contract length
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Strict compliance with all credentialing and documentation deadlines is mandatory to avoid assignment delays
