Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
- Unit: Neuro/Stroke Progressive Care Unit (PCU) floor
- Patient Acuity: PCU level patients requiring respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical care
- Skills Required:
- Titrating cardiac drips with continuous telemetry monitoring
- Experience with respiratory and cardiac care
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Average Daily Census: 30 patients (36 beds total)
- Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
- Scheduling:
- No block scheduling
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work 1-2 major holidays if they fall during assignment
- Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Registered Nurse (1st time travelers accepted)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (refer to unit requirements)
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia
- Competencies:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed)
- Color blindness test (with alternative assessment if needed)
- General nursing competency exam
- Compliance: Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time
Health and Background Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start
- Education Verification: Degree verification required; can be pending with proof of processing
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and Testing:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- References: Two clinical references required
- Skills Checklist: Updated within the last 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending with proof of processing
Additional Information
- Floating within the facility as needed, within scope of practice
- No call requirements
- Must be able to work assigned holidays as specified
- Orientation hours depend on contract length
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Strict compliance with all credentialing and documentation deadlines is mandatory to avoid assignment delays
