Job Description

• Work on a great unit in a new building with a welcoming team culture.
• Seeking a kind, compassionate, caring team player.
• Patient ratio: 1:5 during the day, 1:6 at night.
• Floating required to 2W, CDU, and ARU units.
• Kerrville is located in Texas wine country, about 1 hour outside San Antonio.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience in Medical/Surgical and short stay required.
• Telemetry experience preferred.
• First-time travelers are acceptable depending on experience.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in short stay units.
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NRP certification.
• National Tech Certification Verification.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
• State License 1 Verification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Certifications

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Required Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to float to other units as needed (2W, CDU, ARU).
• 2 professional references required within 3 years of start.

Compliance and Health Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background checks including 7-year search, education verification, and annual federal exclusions screening.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Immunizations/vaccinations or documented declinations required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu (or declination)
  • COVID-19 (vaccine or declination)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility requirements.
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 1 year of start.

Notes

• Must pass medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
• Annual competency exams and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment.

Prior Travel Experience

• First-time travelers are acceptable depending on experience; prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
