Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Christiansburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: Up to 26 weeks

Position Overview

• Provide respiratory therapy services for both adult and pediatric patients (low acuity peds).
• Required to float within skillset as needed.
• Night shift schedule: primarily 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) every other week; 4x12 shifts may be available upon request.
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract.
• Charting experience with EPIC required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Current certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Experience working with adult or pediatric patients
• Critical care experience
• Emergency department experience
• Experience managing ARDS, aspiration, COVID-19, and pneumonia
• Experience with EPIC charting system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID with an address within 100 miles of the facility required within 48 hours of signing.
• E-Verify or attestation required.
• Background check covering the last 7 years of residence/employment required within 1 year of start date.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
• Education verification and transcript/diploma required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming freedom from communicable diseases.
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) or clear chest X-ray for past positives within 1 year, updated annually.
• Fit test for respiratory masks within 1 year, updated annually.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity/vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Flu vaccination documentation or signed declination form required during flu season.
• Two clinical references required.
• Complete employment application/resume.
• Annual update of skills checklist.
• Photo for badge (professional, plain background, no selfies or filters).
• Completion of facility-specific new hire paperwork, compliance checklists, and orientation manuals prior to start.

Additional Information

• Call-off policy allows one shift off per two-week period.
• Locals are not accepted; radius rule strictly enforced.
• Must submit all requests for time off with application.
• Floating within the facility required as per skillset.
• HIPAA training and acknowledgment required.
• Facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements must be completed within 48 hours of signing.

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with critical care and emergency department backgrounds who have prior travel contract experience and are licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia.
