Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

Job Details

• Floating between campuses may be required based on census and staffing needs.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• No on-call required.
• Block scheduling is not accommodated.
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with experience within the last year.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card.
• Completed and accurate I-9 form with work eligibility attestation.
• Annual background check within 1 year of start, including multiple national and state-level searches.
• Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if verification is pending.
• Primary source verification of South Carolina RRT license showing active, unencumbered status.
• Proof of 2 clinical references, including at least one from the unit of assignment.
• Employment application/resume with complete work history, including PTO, contract assignments, and agency names; no unaccounted gaps.
• Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers.
• Clear, passport-style photo for badge issuance.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approximately 2 hours).
• Completion of confidentiality, security agreements, contractor forms, and badge request prior to start.
• Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands without restrictions.
• Respirator medical clearance annually via RespSafety virtual questionnaire.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 90 days of start.
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form.
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or documented history with chest x-ray.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series with boosters if needed.
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination.
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31), with documentation uploaded by December 5 deadline.
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.
• Radiation exposure attestation required if radiation badge is needed.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable.

Additional Notes

• Facility parking is free with a parking pass provided at badge pickup; garage clearance suitable for average SUVs.
• Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extended assignments during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern.
• Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
• Fit testing for respirators will be conducted onsite during orientation.
