Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with pediatric cardiac stepdown experience to provide specialized care for patients with cardiac defects, both medical and surgical. The role involves managing patients post-operatively and caring for those with complex cardiac needs.
Patient Diagnoses & Unit Details
- Cardiac defects (medical and surgical)
- Post-operative care after cardiac catheterization and CTICU
- Care for patients with tracheostomies and ventilators
- Management of high flow nasal cannula
- Administration of inotropes
- Care for heart and lung transplant patients
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiac stepdown nursing experience (highest required)
Required Qualifications
- Current Ohio RN license in hand
- Two professional references required at time of submission (one must be a manager or supervisor; charge RN acceptable; peer references not accepted)
- Experience with pediatric cardiac stepdown patients as described above
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Other certifications as applicable to specialty and unit
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked)
- Education verification (standalone through National Student Clearinghouse)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract
- State-specific searches including Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, and Abuse Registry within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement signed prior to start
- Affiliating Health Record completed prior to start
- Infection Control Policy review and signature prior to start
- Fit mask (N95) testing required within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (no longer required to submit copy, but must be on file)
Immunization & Health Requirements
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year (with specific protocols for positive results)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required between October 31 and May 31 (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination with proof
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination as required
- Other health documentation as applicable
Additional Notes
- Candidate must have legal name matching RN license and all documentation
- Local Ohio addresses within 60 miles of the facility are considered local and may affect eligibility
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
