Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900 - 0730)
- Must work all scheduled shifts; no scheduling exceptions outside approved RTO
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend; flexibility requested
Patient Ratios
- 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in MS/Telemetry Float role
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- First-time travel nurses not accepted (prior travel experience required)
- Must be proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with Orthopedics, Neurology, Stroke, and Cardiac Telemetry required
- Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs
Required Certifications
- ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for MS/Tele Float and related units)
- Pass/fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam with minimum 80% score; max 2 attempts)
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing for EKG and medication exams
- Other certifications may be preferred or required depending on unit (e.g., CCRN, TNCC, PALS, NRP) but not mandatory for this role
Licensure
- Active RN license valid in Washington State or compact license accepted
- Pending licenses not accepted
- Primary source verification required
- Compliance with Washington State multi-state license requirements (suicide prevention training and demographic attestation) if applicable
Special Requirements
- Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry test at orientation
- High volume of peripheral nerve catheters on orthopedic floors
- Good time management skills required due to split 12-hour shifts (8 hours in one area, 4 hours in another)
- Scrub color: any solid color; light blue scrubs provided on unit

Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start
- Must run checks including nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 1, WATCH (WA Access to Criminal History)
- Education verification required for Med Lab Techs only (not applicable here)
- WA WATCH search required
- Drug screening within past 12 months required (Aya requirement; not required by facility)
- 2 professional references required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year (Aya requirement; not required by facility)
- Mask fit test within 12 months (specific mask models required)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination on file
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days; annual TB questionnaire required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines required; declination allowed with understanding of furlough risk
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or completed vaccine series with re-titer; declination allowed with understanding of furlough risk
- Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines required; declination allowed with understanding of furlough risk
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Sept 29 - Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes
- Meningococcal vaccine required for Microbiology lab techs only (not applicable here)
Orientation & Testing
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing with 80% passing score required; failure results in cancellation
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required with minimum 80% in dosage calculations
- Color blindness testing required
- Orientation modules must be completed before start date (approx. 2-3 hours)
- Badge photo required (professional quality, waist up, no hats or face coverings)
Additional Facility-Specific Documents
- Must sign license acknowledgment, equipment safety form, health history form, policies and procedures acknowledgment, security info form, personal data form, job description, code of conduct acknowledgment, and annual stroke education review
- Background packet includes personal data form, national background check form, driver’s license copy, WATCH search results, OIG/SAM, and NSO forms
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity, fast-paced telemetry float role requiring strong dysrhythmia management skills.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience in stroke patient care
