Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical) - Augusta, Georgia

Job Summary

  • Position: Charge RN (Charge experience required)
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit: Medical Surgical
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks

Required Experience

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification: Refer to specialty/unit requirements (not explicitly required here)
  • State RN License (Georgia) – Must be current and verified within 30 days prior to start
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., Dysrhythmia/EKG competency for certain units)

  • Average Daily Census: 29 patients in 32 rooms

  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Scheduling & Work Requirements

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • RTO Blackout Dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Compliance & Onboarding

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
  • Background check, education verification, and other pre-employment screenings required prior to start
  • Physical exam required within 12 months of start
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required, including TB test, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccination or declination, and others as per facility policy
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required (can be pending with proof running)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Georgia, current and verified within 30 days prior to start
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations
  • Proven experience in Charge nurse roles
  • Proficiency with Epic Electronic Medical Record system
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
