Job Opportunity: Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Patient Ratio: 1:3


Job Description

  • Provide care in a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum unit.
  • Skilled in newborn care including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, and medication administration.
  • Competent in managing magnesium infusions, insulin infusions, PCA/PCEA infusions, and heparin infusions.
  • Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals.
  • Weekend work is required unless otherwise posted.
  • First-time travel nurses are not accepted.
  • Locals are accepted.
  • No call responsibilities.
  • Block scheduling accommodations are generally not available.
  • Guaranteed hours may be adjusted based on census; possible on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift in a 2-week cycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington State.
  • Minimum 2 years of Maternal-Newborn nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
    • IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring).

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or titer; history of disease not accepted at this facility)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination with waiver)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical exemption/declination with education module completion.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination documentation required.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (required by agency, not facility).

Background and Compliance Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check including nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
  • WA WATCH background check required.
  • Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies) due before start.
  • Facility-specific agreements and checklists must be signed prior to start.

Additional Notes

  • Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
  • Performance evaluation may be requested at assignment end.
  • Parking cost approximately $10.26 daily.
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting.
  • Magnet and teaching hospital environment.
  • Scrub color is flexible; scrubs provided for OR personnel if applicable.
