Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Shift: Night (3 shifts per 2 weeks, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide independent care for Level I Trauma patients in the Trauma Bay.
- Must have 3-5 years of Level I Trauma ER experience as a T1 nurse.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 4:1 or 5:1 depending on assignment area.
- Must have experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Local candidates considered within a 60-mile radius.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida (Compact license accepted).
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA, confirming ability to perform job without restrictions.
- Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months or chest X-ray within 2 years if prior positive.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted).
- Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted).
- Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted).
- Hepatitis B – Series, titer, or signed declination.
- Varicella – 2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant tests not accepted).
- Annual flu vaccination or approved declination/exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
- Annual fit test for approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small).
Background and Compliance
- Background check within 6 months including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- Education verification required; must not be from fraudulent nursing schools.
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service.
- 2 professional references from within the last 2 years required.
- Must complete facility-specific online orientation and required modules prior to start, including but not limited to:
- Privacy Policy
- AHCA Affidavit and Demographic Information
- ICU Medical modules related to medication and equipment
- Compliance & Ethics Training
- Risk Management and Workplace Harassment
- Emergency Management Education
- Stroke and Sepsis Core Measures
- Safe Injection Practices
- Blood Administration & Anticoagulant Therapy
- Additional nursing-specific modules (e.g., IV Medication, Dysphagia, End of Life Care)
Additional Information
- Badge photo required: passport-style, color, white background, no hats or sunglasses.
- Must maintain all certifications and health requirements with no expiration within 30 days of start date.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
