Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for all adult interventional radiology procedures including body, vascular, and neuro cases.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts of 10 hours each (7:30 AM to 6:00 PM).
- Call requirements:
- Weeknight call (Monday–Thursday, 6:00 PM to 7:30 AM) approximately 3-4 times during the contract.
- Weekend call (Friday 6:00 PM to Monday 7:30 AM) approximately 1-2 weekends during the contract.
- May be required to stay past scheduled shift once a week to complete procedures ("Backup").
- Expected to work every 5th or 6th Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM as needed.
- Average daily patient census: 8 patients per nurse.
- Duties include titrating drips, managing central lines, CT-guided procedures, and bone biopsies.
- Use of Philips monitors.
- Must be able to work independently in a procedural area where work may extend beyond scheduled hours.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Critical care experience required, preferably ICU, Emergency Department (ED), or procedural nursing background.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and ED (Emergency Department) experience preferred.
Certifications & Exams
- BLS (AHA only)
- ACLS (AHA only)
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must pass with at least 80%)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required and must be updated annually.
Schedule & Shift Details
- Day shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM).
- Call coverage as described above.
- May work occasional Saturdays (every 5th or 6th Saturday).
Facility & Work Environment
- Short-term acute care hospital with teaching and level trauma designation.
- Total staffed beds: 1259.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- Scrub color: Navy.
- Parking available with monthly passes (fees apply).
- Night shift parking is free in employee lots.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required.
- Criminal background check within 6 months of start date, including statewide and nationwide searches.
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required.
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel, must remain valid throughout assignment.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start required.
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year.
- Tdap vaccine or declination.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
- HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Facility-specific orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) must be completed through the designated learning platform before starting.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred).
- Employment application must be completed and uploaded.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start.
- Must complete vehicle registration form if working day shifts.
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months).
Appearance & Conduct
- No visible tattoos.
- Facial piercings must be removed or covered.
- Must adhere to facility dress code and fingernail policies to avoid being sent home.
Notes
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply; prior travel experience is not required.
- Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced procedural environment.
- Call and weekend coverage are part of the assignment expectations.
