Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts of 10 hours each (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Call requirements:
- Weeknight call (Monday–Thursday, 6:00 PM – 7:30 AM) approximately 3-4 times during the contract
- Weekend call (Friday 6:00 PM – Monday 7:30 AM) approximately 1-2 weekends during the contract
- May be required to stay past scheduled shift once a week to complete procedures ("Backup")
- Expected to work every 5th or 6th Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM as needed
- Average daily patient census: 8 patients per nurse
- Procedures include titrating drips, managing central lines, CT-guided procedures, bone biopsies
- Use of Philips monitors
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Critical care experience, including ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or ED (Emergency Department) background
- Procedural nursing background
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse license valid in Missouri
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
- Must complete Relias Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam for new contracts
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification) – verify with unit-specific requirements
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including panels for amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP; must be current throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- Tdap vaccine or declination (Td acceptable for renewals)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, and orientation modules must be completed prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Must complete unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred within last year)
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
- Parking: Monthly parking passes available; no charge for straight night shifts; day/night rotation requires parking pass purchase

- Teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Navy
Notes
- IR experience is not required
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
- Must be prepared for occasional extended shifts due to procedural demands
