ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Hours per week: 48 hours (option for 36, 36/48, or 48 hours per week)
• Patient Population: Neuro/Stroke patients, vascular surgeries, multi-level back surgeries, general ICU
• Unit Float: Float across Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCU), Step-Down Care Unit (SCU), and general ICU with no specific unit assignment
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2-3
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: No call required

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years ICU/Neuro nursing experience (highest required years of experience)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Continuous IV sedation management
• Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, including bolts and spinal drains
• Ventilator experience
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) management

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Blue Card accepted; may be completed onsite within 30 days of start
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Preferred: CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)

Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana, verified within 30 days of start

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Core competencies Part I, II, and III (updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Negative TB test (Qgold/Tspot or 2-step skin test within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 12 months of start
• 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles (Rubeola), mumps, and rubella; boosters required if titers are low
• 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer is low
• Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (declinations accepted with appropriate documentation)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Background & Documentation

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide and county checks, sex offender registry, federal databases, and FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation management
• Ventilator experience
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) management
• Experience with intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, including bolts and spinal drains

• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
