Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: San Francisco, California
Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each; 19:00-22:30 / 22:00-7:00)
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily on Labor and Delivery unit with Postpartum experience required.
- Must be able to circulate C-sections.
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system.
- Must be willing to work every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including at least 1 year of recent experience
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
- One completed travel assignment
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Ability to circulate C-sections
- Postpartum experience
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Current and valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and Education Verification.
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start including fitness to work statement.
- Drug testing (standard 9 panel excluding THC) within 30 days of start, renewed every 2 years.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
- Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-Spot) with specific timing requirements.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: IGG titers or 2 vaccines required.
- Hepatitis B: titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year).
- Varicella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination during flu season.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved mask types required).
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.
Training and Competency Requirements
- Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication exams on first day of orientation (3 attempts allowed).
- Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams with minimum passing score of 80%.
- Completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training modules annually with passing scores.
- UCSF-specific learning modules must be completed prior to or on Day 1 of orientation (for Tuesday starts, all modules except in-person trainings must be completed before Day 1).
- Cyber Security Awareness Training and Quiz (annual requirement).
- HIPAA Healthcare Provider Module and Quiz (for clinical staff).
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for all RNs.
Additional Information
- Must submit references and required documentation at time of offer; late submissions will not be considered.
- Candidates must complete COVID-19 related questionnaires and any exemption forms as applicable.
- Parking and uniform policies must be reviewed and acknowledged prior to start.
- Candidates may be required to complete a respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and fit testing appointment scheduling.
- Employment application must include last 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Skills checklist must be updated annually.
- Work history verification required for 7 years.
