Unit and Patient Population
- Oncology-focused unit with a high volume of telemetry patients
- Management of drips and cardiac rhythms expected
- Strong telemetry experience preferred; candidates without telemetry experience must have strong Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) skills
Shift Details
- Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- Prior travel experience is not required
Candidate Location Requirement
- Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (no local candidates)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Minimum of 1 year telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., Chemotherapy certification)
Testing and Competency
- On-site EKG exam covering:
- Cardiac conduction system identification
- Basic dysrhythmias recognition and naming
- Understanding PR and QRS intervals
- Medication competency test required
Dress Code
- Royal blue scrub top with white or royal blue bottoms
Charting System
- Cerner electronic health record
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
- Physical exam required prior to start
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
- TB screening: Negative 2-step PPD or Q-gold within 1 year (T-spot not accepted); if positive PPD, chest x-ray within past 12 months required
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start and documentation on file by December 15
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required; medical exemption must be signed by healthcare provider
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific agency resource guide and confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement prior to start
- Passport-style photo required for badge issuance
- Completion of mandatory online modules (70-80 modules, approx. 8-10 hours) due by Friday before start date; paid time for completion provided
- Fit mask test preferred if available (not required for this location)
- Employment application required for all candidates
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized oncology telemetry unit with a supportive environment for travel nurses, including first-timers. Strong clinical skills in telemetry or MedSurg nursing are essential for success.
