Registered Nurse – Transplant Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per 2-week period (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Unit Description
- Medical Surgical/Solid Organ Transplant Unit (36 beds) providing medical surgical, telemetry, and progressive care to adult pre- and post-transplant patients (liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal) and intestinal rehabilitation patients.
- Adolescent patients (age 15+) are on the unit but cared for by core staff only.
- Patient-to-nurse ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).
- Drip medication administration required on all floors.
- Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs, including potential float to other units and campuses within the hospital system.
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics, and some floors have LPNs.
- Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat & Sun; nights: Fri & Sat nights).
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start; booking delayed if not).
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting.
- EPIC electronic charting experience required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA standards).
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred.
- CPI certification preferred.
- First-time travel nurses not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
- Must be willing and able to float within scope to various units.
- Candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility (no locals accepted).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county, statewide, and federal checks.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Education verification required.
- State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required.
- Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required prior to start.
- Annual physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860 or 1870+) required.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if low/equivocal titers)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if needed)
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually (urine panel including multiple substances).
- Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required.
- COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions or declinations accepted.
- Annual skills checklist required.
- Two professional references from work within the past 2 years required.
Additional Information
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo on back; facility provides instructions for obtaining scrubs.
- Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.
- RTO (Request Time Off): Up to two weeks allowed; must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion.
- RTO blackout dates due to College World Series: June 11–22, 2026.

- Locals (within 100 miles) are not eligible for this travel assignment.
- Must be prepared to work night shifts with a high patient load and complex transplant population.
